The academic procession is a tradition where dignitaries wear convocation robes and enter the convocation hall before the event proceeds. Seen in the photograph are, (wearing red turban) Prof. Surjit Singh, (in front of Prof. Surjit Singh) Prof. Sankaran Subramanian, (in grey suit) former Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Madras Mr. A. M. M. Arunachalam, (wearing a watch and second in the procession), Prof. Veluswamy and (in a dark green sari) Mrs. Arunachalam. The other personalities in the photograph are yet to be identified.
