The event has been described in the IIT Madras Annual Number of 1963-1964. Lionel Paul, the Sports Secretary states in his report that the event was held on 1st and 2nd February of 1964. Paul notes that there were relatively few entries from the city colleges but the event was a success.
Mr. Fischer wrote a message in the Fifth Annual Number describing his role in Madras: “As the representative of the German Government in Madras I consider it to have been my privilege to have witnessed the gradual growth of this institution right from the blue-print stage some 4 years ago and to have played some part in this interesting and most useful development.” IIT Madras conducts an annual basketball tournament named after Mr. Fischer.
