One of the performances during the inauguration function is captured through this photograph. In the Staff club, films were showcased at regular intervals, twice a month. Several classical and oriental dance performances, as well as full-length dramas were also arranged. These were regularly arranged for the benefit of the Staff Club members and their families.

This photograph of the dance performance by children indicates how the families of the members and their children also actively participated in the programmes and events. Several magazines were also subscribed to by the Staff Club to be used by its members.

C. Gourishankar (1926-2002). After working for several years with the Geological Survey of India and being a geologist by qualification, Gourishankar had later started his career as a photographer. Gourishankar was driven to achieve flawlessness and perfection in everything that he did. Thus his photographs had an impeccable quality that characterised them. Every photograph that Gourishankar took was meticulously planned and shot and printed with diligence and patience. Gourishankar carried out most of the official photography at IIT Madras in the 1960s.
