Seen in the photograph are, (first from right) Dr. Raja Ramanna, Chairman, Board of Governors (IIT Bombay), (second from right) Mrs. Sheila Kaul, Union Minister for Education and Culture, (fifth from right) Director Prof. P. V. Indiresan. The entrance to the Student Activities Centre (SAC) is visible in the background. The other individuals in the photograph are yet to be identified. It is mentioned in the Annual Report of the year 1983-1984 that Dr. Raja Ramanna was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) on the day of the 20th Convocation.
