Indiresan, (the lady next to Mrs. Indiresan) Mrs. Indira Sivasailam, wife of Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Madras Mr. A. Sivasailam, (centre) chief guest and President of India Mr. Giani Zail Singh, (the lady next to the President) Union Minister for Education and Culture Mrs. Sheila Kaul, and the gentleman behind Mrs. Kaul (wearing convocation robes) is Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Bombay Dr. Raja Ramanna. It is mentioned in the Annual Report of the year 1983-1984 that Dr. Raja Ramanna was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) on the day of the 20th Convocation.
